September 10, 2012 letter

This week has been awesome!

Sister Dean is the YW president in the G5 ward and on Tuesday (the day before school started) she put on a pep-rally for the young women! It was awesome! We helped her put together the Back to School Survival kit that she came up with for them over the weekend and we dressed up for it too. The activities were chugging a 2 liter bottle of root beer (Root for the right team) and the second one was finding a gumball in a pie tin full of whipped cream. Sister Dean is crazy and amazing. I love her.

We got to go to the temple with the G3 ward Wednesday night! Natalie was going though and then the family will be sealed together in october. It was a wonderful time. Except for Sister Owens had an air bubble caught in her throught and sounded like she was going to die.

Thursday morning we helped Sister Woodhouse (G4 ward) husk corn with her family and make a cake for Elder Hernandez. We had put some cinnamon rolls on his doorstep in the morning and Sister Woodhouse texted the elders "Get your buns outside" haha. It was so cold thursday! I had to wear my rain jacket (It works really good :) We had a lot of lessons on Thursday! It was awesome. Jodi (G3) got her Patriarchal blessing on Sunday! It was so cool to hear her talk about the spirit that she felt during it. We had a lesson with Taylor!!!!! She is a new investigator that we have been watiting all summer to meet with and we finally got to! She knows a lot but we will still have some teaching to do :)

Friday we did our weekly planning and went to the Dicus' to load up on veggies before p-day. We got a whole trunk full. We had dinner at the Woofley's (G2) I love that family and always feel right at home when I am there. Ben (The youngest boy probably like 2 years old) kept singing the Imma Be song by the Black Eyed Peas except he would make up his own lyrics to it that weren't always appropriate. It was pretty funny. Then we went to an End of Summer Bar B Que for the G5 ward. There were lots of non members, and less actives that showed up! We are really pushing ward members to do missionary work.

On Sunday we gave talks in the G4 ward about member missionary work. I talked about How to do it and sister Owens talked about Why. I based my talk off of a talk by Diana Hoelscher called "The Missionary Next Door" If you haven't listened to it DO IT. It is fantastic and super funny too! She has some great ideas. I honestly can't remember what I said in my talk so hopefully that means that I talked with the spirit right? But when I was ending I said "And I pray for these things in the name of...." and then I just busted up laughing and closed the right way haha. After the talk a guy came up to us and said " You will really gut fish for me! I have some right now!" I'm like uhhh yeah we will! We will butcher or cut up anything! So I think I talked about fishing a bit? haha

We had a lesson at the Buyers on Sunday night (Bill is the recent convert dad and Natalie just went through the temple. The family will be sealed in October) Bill sent the missionaries to his Dad in Illinois and while we were there, the bishop of his dad's ward called him! He was able to get the Elder's phone number to see how it went so he called them that night too. It was cool to be there for the action. Before we went home we delivered a Book of Mormon to Heidi's (G5 ward) house. She is a single mom with three kids, going to school full time and working full time. She is an amazing woman. We talked with her for a bit and she told us that she has been struggling a lot with how her schedule is etc. She decided to take a leap of faith and quit her job. That same week she receieved enough scholarship money to cover it! And someone (a co-worker) was put in her path that needed to hear about the gospel when she had three days of work left.

I LOVE THE GOSPEL!! I love being a missionary!!!

I love you all so much! Thank you for all that you do and for the letters you send me :)

Teerah I'm sending you a letter to your home address because I don't have your school one. So make sure your mom fowards it to you!

love,
Sister Kuhns
