September 24, 2012 Letter

Hello Family and Friends!!
Thank you for your wonderful emails and letters! I appreciate it so much! They keep me going :)
Rissa I hope you got your birthday present and I hope that you have a wonderful Birthday! I love you!
So much has happened this week! Our hard work is paying off! We are teaching a ton! We have three new investigators! Logan, Chaseton and John. Logan lives next to Sister Sant. (The Sants moved in a month ago, and they invited her over to hear from the missionaries!) We had a great lesson with Logan and she soaked up everything! She has been on the search for the true church for a long time!! She said she will be baptized if she finds out it is true. Chaseton is nine and is ready to be baptized!! When we asked him about baptism, he said that he wanted to be baptized in a week or two! This kid has dedication. At Chaseton's lesson, he said the closing prayer. Brother Waters wasn't able to make it to the lesson and in the prayer Chaseton said he was bummed that the other missionary couldn't make it. Right when he said Amen, Brother Waters knocked on the door. haha! John has met with the missionaries before. His wife is an active member. They are a great family! I love teaching him.
We helped Sister Waters can peaches and tomato sauce this week. We also helped Sister Bagley and Sister Kuhnz can Apple Crisp filling! Yummy :)
A new couple moved into the Garfield 2nd ward. Shaun and Amber. They moved from Pennsylvania!! We went and met them with Brother Waters. They are such a cool couple!! He is an engineer and she went to school for woodworking! They are both non members. They both told us to give them a holler if the ward needs any help with service projects. We were talking for awhile and Brother Waters saw a cage inside and he was so curious so he asked what was in it. Turns out they have two bull pythons named Ivan and Charlie. They were cute little guys and we even got to hold them! they kind of just cuddled with us...if snakes can even cuddle. They were nice though! But they were heavy! We held them for about 20 minutes and my arms were shaking at the end! haha.
The mission tour on Friday was great! Elder Whiting is awesome. He was in his office a few weeks ago thining about what he should talk about and all of a sudden the phrase "Do More" popped into his head, and he had no idea why, so he wrote it down. Sister Brinkerhoff talked about Developing Christ-like attributes, Sister Whiting talked about Obedieince, President Brinkerhoff talked about Member Missionary Work and recognizing the spirit and Elder Whiting talked about opening your mouth, and Effective Planning.
Develop Christ-Like Attributes
Obedience
Member Missionary Work
Open your Mouth
Recognize the Spirit
Effective Planning
Cool huh? So we need to DO MORE as misionaries!!
All of the Sisters and Zone leaders ate lunch together. We sat with Spanish Sisters. Bad idea because we had no idea what they were talking about - haha. But Sister Jijon would translate for us. At the end of our meal, the whole table held hands while Sister Rivera prayed that the food wouldn't make us fat. I thought she was joking but she was dead serious. She does this after every meal! I was laughing so hard.

Then we had a sisters meeting where Sister Whithing talked to us about what kind of sisters we need to be. It was great!
On Saturday night we went to the Spanish Branch Fiesta!! It was lots of fun! There was food and lots of dancing! On the way home, a van was passing us, and it ran over a cat. I've never seen that happen and it was gross and sad. It was still alive so we got out to go check on it. It was pretty gory. Brother Waters daughter Jocelyn and her husband, Isaac live right where it happened so they were there too. Hopefully it's okay!
It has been a great week! We have been extremely busy and are teaching alot!! Transfer calls come on Saturday and I really don't want to leave Rigby! i feel like there is so much I need to do here still!! I hope I stay!
I love you all so much!!
Love,
Sister Kuhns
