September 3, 2012 letter

Hello family and friends :)

Sorry you are without water. I hope everything is okay! Let me know what happens!! I'm praying for you always!

Things are going really good here. I love Rigby South so much!!  The most exciting thing right now is we are starting to teach more people. We were supposed to have two appointments with Slayde this week but they both fell through. He is still scheduled to get baptized on Saturday. We will just have to do a lot of teaching!!

I love how the spirit works. I am begining to recognize promtings more and more! We were driving one night and Sister Owens and I both felt that we needed to go to the Messinger's. (The one who had the little girl have brain surgery) So we went there and Amanda and Jennifer (Roommate) were outside smoking and talking. So we went up to them and talked with them for awhile. Our plan was to set up an appointment to teach them. I asked them if there is anythign we could do for them. and Jennifer says, "Yeah I have a question. Why do you always ask us if there is anything you can do for us but you never ask us if you can teach us about the Book of Mormon?" we were blown away and said "actually that is the reason why we came today!!" So we were able to set up an appointment to teach them the very next day. We found out they are both very inactive and we had a wonderful lesson about the Book of Mormon, Prayer and who Jesus Christ is. We are going to be teaching them a lot more :) One of the daughters Jordan is the glue in that family. She LOVES Jesus. She told us about her wanting to get some Jesus stickers but they were 2 dollars or something. She has a Jesus doll, Jesus movies etc. she is so cute. during the lesson we were reading the introduction to the Book of Mormon and I gave her a Book of Mormon to read with us and she was giving it back to me at the end of the lesson and I said she could keep it. I've never seen someone get so excited before! She was so happy to have her own book!!

We had a Stake missionary correlation meeting on Sunday and talked about how the members need to be fellowshipping more and inviting people to hear the discussions. We have been praying very hard for this. Right after the meeting we went to the G2 sacrament meeting and there was a family looking for us because they had a 9 year old son who needed to be baptized! BLESSINGS! His name is Chaston and we will be teaching him soon. I'll keep you updated!

We had Zone Conference this week. It was AWESOME!!! I loved being around so many missionaries! We focused on the first lesson, especially the first vision! I learned a lot. If everyone could realize who they are I think the world would be a better place. It really hit me that we are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father and he loves us so much!  I am glad I have that knowledge and I wish everyone could have it! We had a sister's meeting where we talked about how we dress, our hair, wearing make-up etc. I am grateful for my manners, and that I was taught to smile at everyone. While we were doing that, the elders had a talk about how to treat the sister's. I have to say the elders in our zone are awesome. We are like a big family! I love them!

One of the dinners this week was pretty interesting. I am grateful I don't eat meat....we are always guaranteed a salad!! Their house was a zoo, literally. It was interesting to learn about all of their animals, and kind of freaky at the same time. Birds, snakes, roaches, lizards, dogs, ducks, cats, hermit crabs, cows, goats, chickens, and i'm sure other things we didn't see. And most of it was inside...

Mom you would be so proud of me!! We went to the Jarvis' to teach Slayde, but he wasn't there and neither were the parents. The kids were home with the babysitter so we came in to say hi to them and Xavier had stubbed his toes pretty bad and they were really bloody. the babysitter wasn't very....what's the word...sensitive? Kind of just told him to suck it up. I'm glad I was there because I washed up his little tootises, and put on some band-aids (From my first aid kit i carry around thank you). The band-aids were covered in flowers and hearts so i don't think he liked them haha. And then we sat on the couch and put on some ice. Poor little guy. I hate to see kids cry.

We helped sister Waters deep clean her kitchen. (G2 WML wife) and she took us to bambino's for lunch. I it's only in Idaho? It's like a pizza pocket thing. it was yummy, and not healthy at all, but so good. I love the waters. She told Sister Owens and I that if we are ever serious with a guy at college to bring him over and they will grill him for us.

Sister Ritchie has been calling us a lot to visit, and we don't mind at all! She is so nice! (She is the one who's husband JD just died) She called us to come over for lunch and she made us fried squash blossoms and tomato and cucumber salad. it was actually really good. She takes the blossoms from a squash plant, checks for bees inside, dips them in a batter and fries them! haha. she is awesome.

Fast Sunday was awesome! A less active family we teach all bore their testimonies. Their names are Jodi and Amber. and Amber is dating a guy named Melvin. He is big and black and hilarious. He has been a member for about a year. He gets up to bear his testimony, and he said that he would love to meet President Monson and give him a couple of chickens. haha. everyone was laughing so hard. He is hilarious.

Last week my email was so short thanks to the elders. They were playing football outside of the Family History Center (Where we email) and they hit a transformer and it blew up, so the power went out and we went to the Waters to email for a bit. They felt so bad.

I really can't think of anything else. Oh I have a feeling I won't be in Rigby for much longer. The Zone Leaders and Assistants keep telling us that they always tell President to keep sister Owens and I together but at Zone Conference the Assistants said that President wants me in the Visitor's Center. We will see. I will go where ever the Lord wants me!!

There were some good thunderstorms this week! Makes me miss Wisconsin :)

I saw Mike at Walmart today!! He took a picture and texted it to you. let me know if you get it.

So Danielle gave Mike a package for me last week and he gave it to some elders and they got it to the Spanish Elders and they got it to me. There was baby food in it with a piece of paper taped on top of them with a smiley face and a question mark. I was so confused. and they I though maybe someone is pregnant so I started to get really excited! The spanish elders had me going for a few days and they finally told me that they had been in their fridge for awhile and they thre them in there haha.

These are two general conference talks I have been reading a lot lately. I'm going to be really bold and ask the family to listen/read them. They are about not taking offence to others and not judging. I love my family way to much to see people not talking to each other or holding grudges. I cannot believe how many people don't come to church or have family problems because they have been offended. We usually tell them to take a look at the eternal perspective, and to get over it. So I'm asking you to do the same.

I love you all so much. Thank you for the support and love that you give to me. It means so much!!! Good luck with everything that you are all doing! Moving, starting new jobs, trying to find new jobs, raising children, starting school etc. you are ALL amazing!!!

love,
Sister Kuhns
