Hello Family and Amigos!!
Thank you for the birthday wishes!! I felt so loved on my birthday!! I was very excited to see Brandon, Danielle, Rissa, Makayla and Annie!!! On my birthday, Sister Keith, Sister Lemmons, and Sister Bushman and I all went out to eat at Red Robin. It was fun and they sang a song to me yah!! Then at the visitor's center, Sister Owens and her new companion Sister Tomsik and Grandma (Linda Daniels) came to see me!! They brought me presents that people from Rigby had put together. It was so cool and I felt so loved!!! Sister Crystal made me a cake, Sister Waters made me a purse and Brother Dicus sent along some veggies from his garden. I LOVE RIGBY!!! Then the family came! I was so suprised and I think I was beet red the whole time because I was so excited!! Makayla even remembered my name!
Earlier this week, I was manning the front desk at the visitor's center. There are a few regulars that come in and one of them is named Keith (He is a dwarf). He is a pretty funny man. He was telling me about a book that he wants to write....about a cannibal cop.....and then we got to talking about reading. He told me that he likes to read "how-to" books. One of them he read was "How to do ballet" and I asked him if he knew ballet. He said that he could do the splits and I told him to prove it. He said that he had to stretch first. So he spent the next half hour stretching in front of the front desk and trying to do the splits. There were so many people coming in too! It was hilarious.
This week we had a goal to invite 4 of our investigators to be baptized!! We invited three (the Cervantes) but they didn't want to set a date. And then our appointment with Journi cancelled!! BUT we found one more investigator this week and invited her to be baptized!! She wants to be baptized around Thanksgiving!!! YES! What a blessing! We also started teaching Liz this week. She has always had elders, and they can't come inside because she is home alone during the day. We are so lucky to be able to teach her!! She wants to be baptized, but needs to quit smoking. This Monday, Sister Kinghorn scheduled too many sisters to work at the VC. Sister Bushman and I have been praying to somehow have more time in our area to contact people and set up appointments etc. So monday night, sister Kinghorn asked if we had any work that we could do in our area and if we could go home. BY GOLLY YES WE DID!!! So she took us home and we got right to work!! We have been trying to contact a woman named Amy since the day we got here. We decided a few days ago that we will try one more time, and she doesn't answer, then we will have to drop her. She was home!!! YES! We have also been trying to contact another investigator but she is never home. Well she was home Monday night!! We also found an investigator who has been going to church already! and when we were walking, we came to a point and we didn't know what way we should go. I just felt like we should keep walking straight, so we did. And we found a wallet! It was loaded with money and stuff and we took it all! Just kidding. We called the police and they were like where should we meet you to pick it up? So we told them to meet us at the donut shop on 17th. After we hung up we realized how funny that was...because they are police. Get it?
I am starting to like the VC more and more. One cool experience I had this week....a married couple came in with their baby and I showed them the movie Kirtland. We talked for a bit after and then I just felt that they should watch the movie God's Plan (about eternal families) We watched it and the spirit was so strong!!! Right when it ended, he said that he has so much work to do and he can't imagine not going through eternity without his family. They hadn't been sealed in the temple yet and they set a goal right there to work towards it. I was so happy for them!!
Well I hope that everyone has a happy Halloween!!! It is an all-day p-day today! All of the missionaries get locked up in a church building Halloween night. haha. We are watching Kung Fu Panda and the Emporer's New Groove. BOOM BABY!
I love you all SO MUCH!!! I can't imagine serving a mission without the support of my family.
Who did I inherit my ankles from?
love,
Cami
