November 6, 2012 letter

Hello Family!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous week!! Thanks for all of the prayers, love, and support that you give me! I really appreciate it!

This week we had a ton of meetings. Sister Bushman and I were invited to go to Zone Leader Council. It's a meeting where all of the Zone Leaders from the whole mission get together and are trained on what to teach the missionaries in their zone. The VC Trainers (Sister Keith and Sister Jijon) go too. It was a great experience! They had two people from the missionary department come and teach us. They talked about the increase of missionaries a lot and how we need to step it up and get ready for them!! One of them even said that with so many more missionaries coming out, there will be a lot of missions split. That would be crazy if our mission was split! I don't think it will happen anytime soon but who knows.

Stake Conference was this past Sunday and our investigator Jurni came! She is ten years old. Sister Bushman and I were invited to sit on the stand and sing in the choir so we did and Jurni wanted to sit with us so she sat on the stand with us. haha It was so cute! We set a baptism date with her the same day :) I just love that girl. She's adorable.

The Visitor's Center is going pretty good! I have had a hard time getting used to it because I just want to work in my area! I have been praying to be shown why I am here in the Visitor's Center when I could be focusing on my area. This week I had a group of 18 people that I showed the mormon message "Child of God" to. It was mostly little kids and they all sang along to the song. It was so sweet to hear their voices!! Earlier this week we had gotten to the visitor's center and were in the back putting our stuff away and I saw on the security camera screen a woman just standing by herself. There was no one else in the VC. I just felt like I needed to go and talk with her. So i went out and stood by her and asked her how her day was going and she turned to me and with tears in her eyes told me " It has been a rough day. I felt like I needed to come to the temple today but I ended up here" I just gave her a huge bear hug and she just started crying and crying. I asked her if we could go sit and listen to the Christus together. We ended up talking for an hour and a half. I shared a few scriptures with her and sometimes we just sat there in silence. It turns out that She has a son on a mission who has been out the same time as me. It was such a sweet experience to see the view of a parent that has a missionary out. I am so glad I had that experience with her. There was another night that a girl my age came in by herself and I went and talked with her and asked her if she wanted to watch a movie. We watched the movie Kirtland together and then we talked. after the movie, I went and sat by her and we just sat there for a couple of minutes not talking. It was almost awkward but i just felt like I shouldn't say anything! ah! Then I asked her what was wrong and she just broke down and we ended up talking for quite awhile. I just feel so blessed that I had these experiences. It makes me appreciate the Visitor's Center so much more.

So many funny things happen and I just can't remember them right now! I need to be better at writing them down. I think my favorite part about being in a walking area are the looks that we get from people that drive by. It's like they look at us to see why we are dressed so weird, and then they realize that we are missionaries and then they all of a sudden get tunnel vision and can only look foward. So many people in Idaho have dogs outside. They bark at us all of the time and We always scream because they just catch us off guard!

We were trying to contact some people the other day and we made a point to talk to every single person on our way! We were able to make appointments with every single person and they all happened to be non members. (Que hallelujah chorus) My favorite was two ladies and a toddler boy sitting on their porch. (One of the ladies had no teeth and the other one had one tooth...) They were both smoking. We went up to them with our smiles on and asked how their day was going. They replied "Great! We're just watchin football, smokin....oh...and... DRINKING BEER!!!" And we said back "Okay! Is there a time that we can come back and talk to you?" And surprisingly they set up an appointment! haha! it was the best. They were both really sweet.

I love the mission. It's the best!!! Another good thing about the visitor's center is that I get to work with amazing sisters and senior couples! It's super fun to be around them everyday!!!

I love you so much! Keep doing what your doing! Sorry If i sent any of the same pictures that I did last week.

I played Rugby today!! That sport is weird...but fun!

Transfers are on Saturday! I think that Sister Bushman and I will both stay because I am still training her.

love,
Cami
