I HAD THE BEST WEEK EVER!!!
I went
on two exchanges this week. One was with Sister Lemons in Idaho Falls
Central (My last area) and we got to teach Cody! That was a treat! We
had a great time in the area and saw lots of people. Then I went on
Exchanges with Hermana's Mills and Hays the next day. They are so much
fun! One of them has been out for 9 weeks and the other one 3 weeks. So
it was fun to see their fire and energy. They are spanish speaking, so
that was interesting! We taught some great lessons. At one lesson, there
was a random boy who came into their backyard and his name was Chance.
He was a boy who would come into the Visitors' Center almost every day
in the fall and I taught him a lot! Then he moved and we never saw him.
But he came to the lesson and was so excited to see me and learn more.
We had a Sisters' Temple trip!! All of the full-time
and senior sister missionaries in the mission came. There were A LOT!
It was really fun just to see how many sisters are in our mission.
Gladys is a recent convert of ours and she took our her endowment at the
temple and the next day was sealed to her late husband. Wow that was a
neat experience. The spirit was so strong! The funny part was that the
power went out during the session. haha.
We taught a pastor this week and even have a return
appointment set up with him! He is very very nice and moved here from
Tacoma about 2 or 3 years ago.
Saturday
was SO MUCH FUN! We went to our Ward Mission Leaders' farm. (Brother
Elkington) to brand cows! They have about 200 cows and we branded all
the calf's. PS, the Elkington's farm is 7000 acres. Sister Woods and I
had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, so naturally we show up
in our black flats and skirts....no tights, no grubby clothes. Luckily
we had our rain jackets because it was raining and COLD. Well our legs
were freezing so we asked Sister Elkington if we could borrow some
pants. I am glad we did because I have never been so cold in my life...on
that farm! Not to mention we were in mud and fecal matter all day long.
So what they do, is get about 10 men and a few women on horseback and
they herd up all of the cows on the hill and bring them to the pen's
where they are sorted and branded. It was like one: Lord of the Rings or Mulan, when all of the warriors come flooding down the hill; except all
we could think was, "Wow look at all of that priesthood!" So they come down
the hill and get the cows on the road. Then we had to funnel them in
- down this little alley. Sister Elkington told me to go and get them in.
So I ran up behind some of them and started clapping (I didn't know I
was supposed to wave my arms) and half of the herd ran away. So they
came and helped me, haha. But we got them all in and then they sorted out
the calf's (I don't know if the plural for that is calves or not but I'm
just going to write calf's or it will sound like I am writing about
legs) from the cows. All of the calf's were branded. But before they
were branded, a man would grab the calf by the leg and throw it on the
ground. Man, farmers are strong. One of them got away and this guy just
sprinted up to him and tackled this cow!! After they were wrestled to
the ground they would get branded, then they would shout out the number
on their tag and take them to their pen (there were six pens). Our job
was to sort the cows! So they have this tunnel thing that they send the
cows down and we read off the tag number, then find the number on our
list and yell out what pen they were assigned to then they would take
the cow to the pen. Afterwards, we had a big bar-b-q, with you guessed it -
BEEF!
We also spoke at two mission farewells yesterday!
I
saw a friend from school this past week. And we are doing Family Home
Evening for the Young Single Adult's ward tonight. We
are planning "missionary" charades and scatergories.
I think I had my first ear infection yesterday. I
woke up and I couldn't hear out of my left ear, it was just ringing all
day and hurt. But thankfully we have the Priesthood on earth. I got a
priesthood blessing and when I woke up today it was all better!!
Transfer calls are a little early this transfer
because we have Elder Clarke from the Seventy coming to our zone
conference! So Transfer calls are this Thursday!
love you all!
