This week has been great.
TRANSFERS were on Wednesday!
Sister Corry and I were reunited at the transfer site. We were so
pumped to see each other. We went to Walmart to get some groceries and
then to our apartment...we white washed. The elders said they had
cleaned. FALSE. It was nasty. We went into our room and in my bed, there
were 20 loaves of bread with a blanket over it to make it look like
there was a person, and Sister Corry's pillowcase was stuffed with bread
as well. Where all the bread came from I have no idea. Nice joke.
Everything else was grody. We threw all of the bedding into the washer
and got to work. I got the lovely job of vacuuming up dead and live
beetles and spiders for 30 minutes. And Sister Corry worked on the
bathrooms. You couldn't see through the shower door because there is so
much soap scum and the sinks were green/brown. The kitchen was sick and
everything else was just yucky. We cleaned the bedroom and bathrooms
first so we could sleep in somewhat peace. We are lucky to have a nice
shelter though. We are trying to give it a womans' touch and smell. I
hope this doesn't taint your view on Elders....they are great.
We have an investigator named Caleb! He is so great. He is getting baptized on June 29th.
We met with him and taught him about the Book of Mormon. The Beck's in the
ward are so great with them. Their son Braken is the same age (12) and
he is so funny. Do you remember Geno's friend Jordan in Wisconsin...the
hilarious neighbor boy? That is Braken. So funny.
We cover three wards. One is pretty small in area and
the other two are out in the country. South Point, Taylor View and Park
Taylor. The leadership is great!
Sister Corry is great. She is such a fun companion. We need to put a cap
on how long we talk at night though....just so much to chat about.
The elders before us thought it would be fun to accept an invitation to speak in Sacrament on Sunday...one
of the elders was done with his misison and the other one got
transferred, so of course we got to speak :) I spoke on the 12th article
of faith. I had no idea how I would talk on obeying the law and being
subject to presidents, kings etc...but it went well. I told some stories
about the MTC with Sister Corry and I and tried to crack some jokes.
Fortunately it went over well. Sister Corry did really well too, she
talked first and sat down and said sorry for only taking 10 minutes and I
was left with 25. But I filled the time :)
We went to dinner at the Smith's last night and Bbrandon's friends the Jenson's were there and also a couple from the
Netherlands. It was so much fun, they were all really funny. It was fun
to get a video of Brandon, Danielle, Makayla and Annie :)
I love being a misisonary! We have seen lots of miracles and I love what I'm doing. I really can't imagine doing anything else.
love you all!
-Sister Kuhns :)
