Hello everyone!!
This week Sister Corry and I
did three exchanges in a row. We saw each other in passing every night.
I have to say, I missed my companion! I am so lucky to have her! It was
so much fun to get to know the other sisters and see how they work. I
got to go to a spanish area again! No one did my hair though haha. The
spanish exchange was so cool. I went with Hermana Riera. She has been
out for 2 weeks and is AMAZING. The people we talked to understood zero
english. I could understand enough of what they were saying to know what
subjects they were talking about and was able to tell Hermana Riera
what scriptures to share etc. It was very cool. After one of the lessons
we talked about how neat it was to see the spirit work with both of us.
She did the talking and teaching and I was able to still suggest
scriptures to share with the investigator.
The Taylor Mountain stake has a "stake farm". It is a
big plot of land that they use to grow potatoes and other crops for the
church. They also have a lot smaller plots for anyone to use for their
garden. The Gravelle family and the Elizondo family (nonmember) share a
plot and we have been seeing them a lot! We go out there and help them
weed. It's lots of fun. The Elizondo's have a fun house. They have a
trampoline so we play with the kids there a lot. And they also have
PIGS!!! They smell so bad but are way cute.
We met another non member family who we have been doing
service with! The mom has been going to church since she was 13 and she
doesn't know why she isn't baptized....we can fix that!
Caleb is doing great! He is getting baptized this Saturday!
He and his best friend Brakin are hilarious. We taught them the Law of
Chastity the other day and we have a great song titled "the No-No
square" to teach it. It goes like this - "Stop, don't touch me there, this
is my no-no square" Well they decided to make a rap version. I took a
video and it is too big to send, so I'll just show it to you in november I
guess. But it's hilarious! Caleb is great. His parents are awesome and
all three of them have been going to church every week!!!!! His baptism
is this Saturday!
Caleb also loves the Utah Jazz. Whenever we come over he quick runs to
his room to put on his Jazz jersey. So yesterday, he was sporitng a
Jersey, church pants and church shoes haha. We taught them about
Tithing as well and how it goes to help the build church buildings and
the missionaries etc....and he says "So, my tithing helps to pay for
your brand new car?" haha
Sister Corry had a baptism to go to yesterday and we
had lots of appointments yesterday night so I grabbed a sister from the
VC and we went to the appointments. None of them went through!! They all
said they weren't interested or they forgot about it. Silly people. It
was a bummer but one of them was pretty funny. He comes to the door and
says "I'm athiest" I said sweet, can you tell me a little about athiesm
because I don't know anything about it. He said that he is the founder
of "AS IF" (Athiest society of Idaho Falls). I asked him to explain what
they do in AS IF....he explained it. The shortened version is that it
is a support group to learn how to cope with living around so many
religious people. Well I asked him who he knew that could use the
message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and he politely said that he
wouldn't help me build the kingdom of God. Hey, it never hurts to ask!
(Meanwhile, his son was starting to say names of people that we could
teach in the background.) We will go back don't worry.
Our apartment is getting cleaner. We cleaned a lot this
morning. I took charge of cleaning the basement. I swept the floor and
was getting a nice pile of what I thought was dead beetles and spiders.
But like a horror film, I go back a few minutes later and my pile
of dirt and dead stuff has come alive and was moving on the floor! I
grabbed the vacuum and sucked it all up. Do vacuums kill bugs? I always
assumed they would have no oxygen and the heat would scorch them, but I
am a little worried I will have beetles coming out of my vacuum cleaner
now...
We had stake conference yesterday!!!!! It was all about
families and member missionary work. The World Wide Leadership Training
yesterday was awesome. Maybe I will get to go on facebook before I come
home - hah!
Well we have our last exchange coming up this week! I
can't believe we are already on the third week of the transfer. Time is
flying by!
Mucho LOVE!
Sister Kuhns
