Blackfoot!

Blackfoot is the best! My new companion is Sister Riding. She is from Dallas Texas, but she lived in Bellevue for a year! She is 22 and so fun. We get along great. We live with Bishop Nickell in Rose. We serve in the Rose 1st, Rose 2nd, Rose 3rd, Wapello 1st and Wapello 2nd wards. We serve out in the sticks. For example, it takes us 8 miles to get into town. The Elders' Quorum President wasn't at church and we were told that "He is probably up in the mountain chasing his cows" I really like it here a lot. The members are so helpful and the people here are hilarious. Everyone was excited about getting sister missionaries and we have been overwhelmed with how welcomed we feel.
This is how people give directions here "You will go five miles east on River Rd. When you get to the white fence, you will turn on your right blinker and then turn on Hansen Dr. Then you will see some cows on your left. Brother Baily was bishop 20 years ago and his house burnt down well you will take a left when you see that. Then in about 2 miles you will pass a green gate to keep them cows in their pasture and then you'll just keep headin' straight up that gravel road til you get the the big grey house." Somehow, we find where we are going.

On Thursday night we went to a High Priest Group meeting...that was a first and probably a last. I honestly felt like we were meeting with a bunch of burly cowboys who had hearts of Gold! I felt like a princess in that room. They are so respectful and just straight up men.

At night, Sister Riding and I wake each other up from sleep talking. There is also lots of wind where we live and tons of wild life. The coyotes or mountain lions or something howl at night and that wakes us up too. I'm not complaining about living in the country though, I love it!

There have been lots of fires around here. So the air is always smoky.

We are teaching a boy. We met with him Thursday night for our first lesson. The exciting part was Sister Riding invited him to be baptized and he said yes! His mom is getting more active in the church too so he has good support. I was so proud of Sister Riding! We screamed when we got in the car because we were so excited. Sister Riding is an amazing teacher and is so in tune with the spirit.

We are also teaching a less active woman. She is Sacajawean and is beginning to become very strong in the church. She is very aware of the Holy Ghost and God's hand in her life. We had lunch with her yesterday and we are going to help paint her house this week. She beads for a living. She sells them to this woman in Hollywood and Aria (From the show Pretty Little Liars) wears Cindy's earring a lot :) She's really talented. She also makes Moccasins!!! She is amazing! I love her.

We were trying to contact a part member family but they weren't home. I was explaining to Sister Riding that sometimes, Heavenly Father just puts us in an area because there is someone else he needs us to go see. So we decided to go to the neighbor's house and introduce ourselves. Turns out they were an active family with a less active grandson living with them. We were talking to the grandparents and Brother McKinley randomly says, "I have a family for you to teach. I have been praying about them for a year and I went to the temple yesterday and their name kept popping into my head and I know you are an answer to my prayers." I know that Heavenly Father puts us in certain places for a reason. This was a major blessing.

Everyone here says "ya'll" and I accidentally said it Sunday.

We taught relief society on Sunday out in Wapello. It went really well. We taught about missionary work and how the members are key in missionary work. That Relief Society also has an activity coming up- hand gun safety and use. Can't wait to go to that! Don't worry, I won't shoot a gun.

I really love it here, and I know it is where I am supposed to be.

I love you all! Have a wonderful week :)

love,
Sister Kuhns
