Hello!!
We have been teaching Teva a
lot (the man from Sri Lanka)!! We teach him with the Zone Leaders (Elder
Kubie and Elder Workman). It’s
really fun teaching with them. Teva asks so many wonderful questions!!
He is so
prepared. This past Sunday, We all fasted together. It was an amazing
feeling,
all of us doing that for the same purpose. I love Teva!! I am so glad
that I
was able to meet him and that we are all continuing to teach him. He is
going to teach us how to make Sri Lankan (I have no idea if that is
right or not) food!!! We are also teaching a filipino lady, so I should
be a pretty dang good cook by the time I come home!
I have been studying the Book of Mormon and the book of
Matthew a lot this past week. I am so grateful for the scriptures!!! They are
powerful and teach me so much!
Kyle (The man that we have been teaching) lives with his
parents, Dwayne and Jan. Jan can only get around in a wheelchair, and she has
been wanting to go to the mall so bad lately! Dwayne and Kyle hate shopping
with her so Kyle asked if we could go to the mall with her. DUH of course we
will. It is her birthday present from Kyle to go on a shopping spree with us…we
are pretty excited.
Sister Bushman has still been getting sick on and off. I
feel like everyone has been getting the flu! It’s awful. I’m all better and am
feeling healthy, thank goodness.
DYLAN!!!!!! Did you all get the email about him? Here is the
background on him…He was the very first person I ever chatted with on Mormon.org.
He is a 15 year old boy living in Puerto Rico with his older sister. He came on
wondering about Jesus Christ and the LDS church. I taught him the Restoration
and the Plan of Salvation right away and he was so receptive! He couldn’t get
his sister’s permission for me to continue teaching him…so I would just send
him emails here and there with scriptures to read and let him know I was
thinking about him. I hadn’t heard from him for about a month and then I get an
email from him out of the blue letting me know that he was baptized!! I just
started crying when I read that email. It was so cool!! One thing that is hard
for me at the visitors’ center is not seeing the “Fruits of my labors” But
getting that email confirmed to me that I was meant to be here.
There
were quite a few people coming in to the visitors' center this past
week that were starting up school at BYU-Idaho. This girl came in with
her mom and sister and I talked with them for about an hour. It was so
much fun! I drew them a map of campus and told them where everything was
etc. As we were talking, she told me where she was living....Royalcrest
#117! My first apartment there! I'm pretty sure I screamed and started
jumping up and down. It was pretty exciting! She said that she is going
to write me...we were probably best friends in the pre-earth life.
We
have a next door neighbor who is out side all of the time. Yesterday we
were walking up to our door and he was outside, and we both felt like
we should go talk to him. His name is Tim. He is the nicest man I have
ever met! He has had a really rough life. He is a very less active
member of the church but his entire family is catholic. He said that we
could come back next week to have a lesson. We are pretty stoked.
I
can't remember if I said this last week, but i'll just say it again. we
went sledding as a zone last p-day. There were so many people sledding!
This guy had his dog with him and said that we could hang on to the
lesh and he would pull us. It was so much fun!! We went so fast!!!
It
has been FREEZING here. I am so cold all of the time. We don't have our
car anymore because Elder Bishop needed it...He tore his ACL and MCL.
But we should be getting one this week (Cross your fingers please!)
How
was everyone's new year's? Can you believe it's 2013!! I'm so glad that
we all survived "the end of the world!" I'm sure someone will find some
other calendar that says we will all die this year too.
GAH I LOVE SERVING A MISSION!!!!!!!
I really don’t know what else to say! It was a pretty
mellow week J
Thanks for everything that you do! I love you all!!
