Cody gets baptized!

What a week. I'm not even sure where to start.

We taught Kaycee and Oakley again and they are preparing to be baptized! We found out that they didn't want to get baptized before, because they are afraid of the water. So we are going to take them to see the font. We also practiced holding our breath for 5 seconds during the lesson :) And they all came to church on Sunday!!!

We had been trying to teach the Burrell family but just found out they are moving today :( We went to say good-bye and it was so sad! She said that she was excited to get taught by us because we were the first missionaries that she actually liked. So sweet. They are moving to Idaho Falls though, so we will be able to talk with the missionaries teaching them.

This is my journal entry from Cody's baptism
" Yesterday  was one of the most spiritual days of my mission. Cody's baptism was at 1pm. He was baptized by his Grandpa. First his Grandma gave a talk on the Holy Ghost Then the primary kids sang "when I am Baptized." Then he was baptized. His Grandpa started to cry while he was saying the prayer. While they were getting dressed, Sister Despain (the Bishop's wife) had a projector set up to play some Mormon Messages. She Showed: I am a Child of god, The Shiny Bicycle, Mountains to Climb & Earthly Father, Heavenly Father. The videos were perfect and the spirit was so strong. Then, brother young gave a talk on the Holy ghost. When he got up there, he was pretty choked up. He was able to help us all recognize the Spirit that was there. His talk was very creative! He had a big, red Santa looking bag with a "gift" inside. The gift was a blanket. He used the blanket to show Cody that the Holy Ghost is a comforter. Then Bishop Despain got up to give his closing remarks. When he got up, he was pretty emotional. He said, " I have had a very spiritual experience while sitting through this baptism. Sister Kuhns, will you come up here please?" I said, "Yes Sir," and went up by him. He put his arm around me and said. "the spirit has been telling me that Sister Kuhns needs to speak, she has something to say. Will you please bear your testimony?" Of course I said yes! I instantly felt like the Spirit of God was right there with me, like I was just a vessel for him. I don't remember anything I said except for when I told Cody that his dad (who had taken his life when Cody was young) was learning the same things that he had been taught. It was an unforgettable experience for me. The spirit was so strong at that baptism. It was the first baptism that I didn't have to do anything. Usually , I have to play the piano, make the programs, give a talk etc, but Brother Young took care of everything from the programs even down to the chorister. I am very grateful for this baptism. Not just for the spiritual experience, but to have an example of how a baptism should feel. You could almost touch the spirit in the room and the love that the ward and Heavenly Father has for the Bates family."

another journal entry for the same day...
"At 5:30 AM I heard a really loud thump against the house. I shot up out of bed and asked Sister Riding if she had heart it too. She said yes. It was so windy out, so my first thought was a tree falling down onto the house. I looked out the window and it looked like a tree had fallen on the house. I had sister Riding look and she agreed. So I said Put your shoes on and grab your jacket! We need to get out now! So we grabbed our jackets, put our shoes on and went downstairs. Before we woke up the Nickell's to tell them everything, we were like it is probably nothing, we are over reacting not to mention we are still half asleep. But I said that I have to check for myself outside because I couldn't live with myself if this house caved in because of me. So we went outside and sure enough, all of the trees were still standing." I felt so bad for Sister Riding. We do so much sleep talking to each other that it was probably just a dream or something. We still laugh that I was yelling to get dressed and get out of the house. It was chaotic.

Cody was confirmed at sacrament meeting. When he sat down after being confirmed, he leaned over to his grandma and said that his heart felt warm. We asked him after how he felt and he said "It feels like there is a fire person inside of me and my heart is really warm."

We taught mission prep to the priests on Sunday. We haven't been getting too good of a turnout so we decided to write a note. It basically said that we want to see you there etc. Then we signed it "heart", The Sister Missionaries. Some of them came up to us after church and said that they liked the note a lot and Bishop said, "It was well received". Well, we still didn't have a good turnout....so we will go personally next time. Mission prep was still good. We had 3 of them come. They participate so well and are sharp boys! I'm impressed with how dedicated they are to prepare for their mission.

I loved the General Relief Society Broadcast!!! I loved the bread story from President Monson.

Some funny things that have happened....

-There wasn't a suit that fit Cody. The first one he had on was rather tight. So he found a different one and told Elder Decker that the first suit felt like it was a bunch of rags that were sewn together. Cody may or may not have ripped the "rag" suit.
-A woman called us "babe" on the phone.
-We drank milk from a cow. All milk is from cows, but this was the real deal.
-We ate fresh pig this week.....I didn't even know what part of it I could eat. Some of it was brown, some was red, and some was white. awkward.
-Cody demonstrated how his fake machete works

I love you and hope you have a fantastic week! Enjoy conference :)

love,
Sister Kuhns
